AI for Consulting Firms in Canada

Remolda helps Canadian consulting firms set up AI for desk research, interview synthesis, proposal drafting and knowledge search, with client confidentiality and data location settled first. The one-week AI Readiness Review costs $490 CAD + HST.

In short

  • Price: AI Readiness Review $490 CAD + HST, one week; AI Pilot Sprint $9,800 for one working workflow in six weeks.
  • Scope: desk research with cited sources, interview synthesis, proposal drafts, deliverable checks and search across past engagements.
  • Under PIPEDA the firm stays responsible for personal information it sends to an AI vendor and must protect it by contract.
  • OpenAI and Anthropic business plans state that business data is not used for model training by default.
  • Sessions and reports in English or French.

When consulting firms call us

This page is for partners and practice leads in management, strategy, HR, engineering and public sector consulting. Typical situations:

  • Consultants already use AI on their own. Partners want one approved setup and a rule for client material.
  • Proposals take too many evenings. Each response is rebuilt from old documents that are hard to find.
  • Desk research eats junior time. Market scans and jurisdiction comparisons take days before analysis starts.
  • Interview notes pile up. Dozens of stakeholder interviews need synthesis before the findings workshop.
  • A client asked how the firm uses AI. The firm needs a written answer for its clients and for procurement questionnaires.

What we automate for consulting firms

Desk research with sources. An AI research agent gathers public sources on a question, summarizes them and links every claim to its source. A consultant checks the sources and writes the analysis.

Interview synthesis. AI groups interview notes by theme, with quotes linked to each note. The engagement lead tests the themes and writes the findings.

Proposal drafts. AI drafts proposal sections from the firm's past proposals, CVs and case descriptions. The partner shapes the approach and price.

Deliverable checks. AI checks reports for consistent numbers, terms and references, and for gaps against the scope of work. The engagement manager signs off.

Status reports and minutes. AI drafts weekly status reports and meeting minutes from notes, the project plan and the issue log. The engagement manager edits them and sends them to the client.

Knowledge search across past work. An internal assistant answers questions from past deliverables and methods, with access limited by client and engagement.

Tools depend on your stack: Microsoft Copilot (formerly Microsoft 365 Copilot), ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, n8n or Power Automate. Vendor selection compares them against your client agreements.

Canadian rules that shape consulting AI

PIPEDA accountability. Principle 4.1.3 keeps the firm responsible for personal information transferred to a third party for processing, protected by contract. Interview notes and HR data often contain personal information, so the vendor contract comes first.

OPC principles for generative AI. The federal, provincial and territorial privacy commissioners set nine principles, including legal authority and consent, necessity and proportionality, openness and safeguards. They frame how client and interview data is used.

Quebec Law 25. A privacy impact assessment is required for new information systems that handle personal information and before information leaves Québec. Where an enterprise makes a decision based exclusively on automated processing, it must inform the person. Firms with Quebec clients or staff plan for both.

Vendor training terms. OpenAI states that business data is not used for training by default, and Anthropic says the same for its commercial products. The firm's AI use policy names the approved plans and settings.

Ontario job postings. Since January 1, 2026, Ontario employers with 25 or more employees must state in public job postings whether AI is used to screen, assess or select applicants. It applies when the firm uses AI in its own hiring.

Which package fits

Most consulting firms start with the Readiness Review: in one week it sets the tool choice, the client-data rule and the first workflow. Larger firms with several practices start with the AI Opportunity Audit. A firm that has already chosen its tool and its first workflow can go straight to the pilot.

OptionPrice (CAD + HST)TimeBest for
AI Readiness Review$4901 weekA boutique or mid-size firm choosing its first tool and workflow
AI Opportunity Audit$2,9002 weeksA multi-practice firm that wants ranked use cases and a roadmap
AI Pilot Sprint$9,8006 weeksOne workflow, such as research with sources or proposal drafts

Full scope of each package is on the pricing page.

How the work runs

The engagement follows the Remolda Cycle: Audit → Strategy → Implement → Empower → Evolve.

  1. Audit. A 90-minute session with partners, a senior consultant and whoever manages IT. We review the engagement lifecycle, tools and client terms.
  2. Strategy. A written plan: the first workflow, the tool, the client-data rule and a simple way to measure time saved.
  3. Implement. A six-week pilot on one workflow, using past engagements or public data first.
  4. Empower. Team training on prompting, verification and the firm policy.
  5. Evolve. Results reviewed with the partners and the next workflow chosen.

In our experience billable workload usually sets the pace. It depends on how many consultants take part.

Frequently asked questions

Where does AI help a consulting firm first?

In research and writing that repeat across engagements: desk research with sources, synthesis of interview notes, first drafts of proposals from past wins and quality checks on deliverables. A consultant verifies every fact before it reaches a client.

Can we put client documents into AI tools?

Yes, with a business plan, contract terms and settings that match your client agreements. OpenAI and Anthropic state that business plan data is not used for training by default. Under PIPEDA the firm stays responsible for personal information sent to a vendor for processing.

How do you stop AI from inventing facts in research?

The research workflow requires a source link for every claim and marks unsupported statements. A consultant checks the sources before anything goes into a deliverable.

Which tool should a consulting firm use?

It depends on your stack and client requirements. Microsoft Copilot fits firms that work in Microsoft 365; ChatGPT Enterprise and Claude suit research and writing; n8n or Power Automate connect the steps. The Readiness Review compares them for your firm.

Is this worth it for a boutique firm?

Yes. The Readiness Review is sized for a small firm: one week, one session and a written plan. The plan centres on the one or two workflows where partners spend the most time.

How long does it take?

The Readiness Review is one week and a pilot is six weeks. In our experience billable workload usually sets the pace; it depends on how many consultants join the sessions.
