Power BI Dashboard Consulting with AI Summaries
Power BI dashboard consulting turns scattered spreadsheets and system exports into one trusted report with a plain-language summary of what changed. Remolda builds one production dashboard in six weeks for $9,800 CAD + HST.
In short
- Price: $9,800 CAD + HST for the six-week AI Pilot Sprint: one production dashboard on your data.
- Built in Power BI (or your existing BI tool) on a documented data model with refresh schedules and row-level security where needed.
- AI layer: a written weekly or monthly summary of what moved and why, generated from the model and checked against the figures.
- Copilot in Power BI is set up where your licence allows it: Microsoft requires paid Fabric capacity F2+ or Power BI Premium P1+.
- Handover includes a runbook and a session for the people who maintain and read the report.
Your situation
A dashboard project usually starts when reporting takes too long or nobody trusts the numbers. Typical cases:
- Month-end reporting is manual. Someone exports from three systems, pastes into Excel and formats for days.
- Two reports, two answers. Finance and operations define the same metric differently.
- Power BI is licensed, reports are ignored. Pages exist, but managers still ask for a spreadsheet.
- Leaders want the story in words. They need three sentences on what changed and what to look at.
What the dashboard includes
| Layer | What we build | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Sources | Connections to your systems and files | One refresh replaces manual exports |
| Data model | Tables, relationships, measures with written definitions | Everyone reads the same number |
| Reports | Pages built around decisions, for desktop and phone | Managers open it without training |
| Security | Row-level security and workspace roles | Each team sees its own data |
| AI summary | Written overview of what moved and likely drivers | Leaders get the story in a minute |
Where your sources need cleaning or a warehouse first, the work starts with data pipelines. For questions that go beyond reports, such as analysing survey comments or support tickets, see AI data analysis. Forecasts belong on predictive analytics.
What the AI Pilot Sprint includes
Metric definitions agreed first. A short document that fixes how revenue, backlog, cost or wait time is calculated.
One production dashboard. Data model, measures, report pages and refresh schedule in your tenant.
An AI summary step. Generated from model measures on a schedule you choose, with owner review during the first cycles.
Copilot readiness check. Licence, capacity, region and tenant settings, including whether data may be processed outside Canada, verified before we promise any Copilot feature.
Handover. Runbook, model documentation and a session for report owners.
How long it takes
Six weeks from kickoff. In our experience the usual split is one week for access and metric definitions, three weeks for the model and reports, and two weeks of live use with changes. Source system access and disagreement on definitions are the usual causes of delay.
What it costs
The AI Pilot Sprint is $9,800 CAD + HST, fixed, for one dashboard. Power BI, Fabric and model usage are billed by Microsoft or the model provider. Unsure where reporting effort would pay off most? The AI Opportunity Audit ($2,900) ranks options and is credited toward the Sprint. See all packages on the pricing page.

The Sprint is the Implement step of the Remolda Cycle (Audit → Strategy → Implement → Empower → Evolve).
- Scope call. 30 minutes: decisions, sources, audience.
- Definitions and access. Metrics agreed, sources connected.
- Build. Model, reports and summary tested with owners.
- Go live. Scheduled refresh and summary delivery.
- Review. Usage and time saved against the baseline, then go / adjust / stop.
Frequently asked questions
What does a Power BI consultant do?
A Power BI consultant connects your data sources, builds the data model and measures, designs the reports, sets refresh and security, and trains the owners. Remolda adds an AI step that writes the summary of what changed, with every figure traceable to the model.
How much does a Power BI dashboard cost?
Remolda's six-week AI Pilot Sprint is $9,800 CAD + HST for one production dashboard with its data model, AI summary and handover. Power BI or Fabric licences are paid to Microsoft directly.
Can we use Copilot in Power BI?
Copilot in Power BI needs paid Fabric capacity (F2 or higher) or Power BI Premium (P1 or higher) in a supported region, with the tenant setting turned on. Trial capacities and free licences are not supported. For tenants outside the US and EU data boundary, including Canada, Copilot is off by default until an admin allows data to be processed outside the tenant's region. We check this before the build.
Which data sources can you connect?
Excel and SharePoint files, SQL databases, accounting and ERP exports, CRMs and most cloud apps with a connector or API. Messy sources get a cleaning step in the pipeline so the model stays reliable.
How do you make sure the AI summary is correct?
The summary is written only from measures in the data model, and each statement links to the figure it describes. Owners review the first cycles before the summary is sent automatically.
We already have Power BI reports nobody uses. Can you fix them?
Yes. We start from the decisions the report should support, rebuild the model where needed and cut pages nobody opens. Usage is checked in the Power BI admin reports after launch.
How long does it take?
Six weeks from kickoff. In our experience access to source systems and agreement on metric definitions take the most time.
