AI Receptionist and Voice Agent for Canadian Businesses
An AI receptionist is a voice agent that answers calls, handles routine questions, books appointments and transfers everything else to staff. Remolda sets one up on your phone line in six weeks for $9,800 CAD + HST.
In short
- Price: $9,800 CAD + HST for the six-week AI Pilot Sprint: one phone line with an AI receptionist in production.
- Handles routine calls: hours, directions, services, appointment booking and changes, message taking, status questions from approved data.
- Transfers to a person on request, on sensitive topics and whenever it is unsure, with a summary passed to staff.
- English and French on the same line, with the caller's language detected or chosen at the start.
- The greeting says an AI system answers the call. If the call is recorded, it states the purpose and asks for consent, as the OPC's guidance on call recording under PIPEDA sets out.
Your situation
An AI receptionist pays off where the phone rings more than your team can answer. Typical cases:
- Calls go to voicemail. After hours, at lunch and during busy mornings.
- Front desk staff juggle phone and people. The caller waits, or the person in front of them does.
- Most calls are routine. Hours, directions, booking, rescheduling, "did you get my documents?"
- An old phone menu. "Press 1 for…" menus frustrate callers and still end with a transfer.
What the AI receptionist handles
| Call type | What it does | When a person takes over |
|---|---|---|
| General questions | Answers from approved information | Anything outside the script |
| Appointments | Books, changes or cancels in your calendar | Complex scheduling rules |
| Messages | Takes details, sends a summary to the right person | Urgent matters, transferred live |
| Status questions | Reads approved status from your system | Account-specific advice |
| Sensitive topics | Transfers immediately | Always |
For written channels, the same content powers a website chatbot or a customer service chatbot. Language handling follows our bilingual chatbot approach.
Privacy and disclosure on calls
The OPC's guidance on recording customer calls asks organizations to tell callers the call is recorded, state the purpose and obtain consent; a caller who continues after that notice gives implied consent. Recordings may be used only for the stated purposes. The greeting, retention period and transcript handling are set in the Sprint and documented under PIPEDA and, for Quebec, Law 25.
What the AI Pilot Sprint includes
Call analysis. The main reasons people call, from your logs or a two-week tally.
Scripts and rules. Greeting, answers, booking rules and transfer triggers, approved by your team.
One line in production. Voice agent connected to your phone system and calendar.
Testing with real voices. Canadian English and French, with accents and background noise.
Monitoring and runbook. Call summaries, transfer rates and how to update scripts.
How long it takes
Six weeks from kickoff. In our experience the usual split is two weeks for call analysis and scripts, two weeks for connection and testing, and two weeks live with daily review at first. Number porting, carrier steps and script approvals can add time.
What it costs
The AI Pilot Sprint is $9,800 CAD + HST, fixed, for one line. Telephony and voice platform usage are billed by the vendor. If calls are one of several automation options, the AI Opportunity Audit ($2,900) ranks them and is credited toward the Sprint. All packages are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI receptionist?
An AI receptionist is a voice agent connected to your phone line. It speaks with callers in natural language, answers routine questions from approved information, books or changes appointments and transfers callers to staff when needed.
How much does an AI receptionist cost?
Remolda's six-week AI Pilot Sprint is $9,800 CAD + HST to design, connect and launch one line with your calendar, scripts and transfer rules. Telephony, voice platform and model usage are billed by the vendor per minute or per month.
How is this different from an AI receptionist subscription?
Subscriptions give a standard product. The Sprint builds on your phone system and calendar, with your scripts, transfer rules, bilingual greeting and privacy notice, and you own the configuration and accounts.
Do callers have to be told they are speaking to AI or being recorded?
For recording, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner's guidance under PIPEDA says to inform callers that the call is recorded, state the purpose and obtain consent. We also state at the start that an AI system answers the call.
Can it handle French and accents?
Yes. Speech recognition for Canadian English and French is tested on recordings of real callers during the build, and weak spots are routed to staff.
Which phone systems and calendars does it connect to?
Cloud phone systems and SIP trunks such as Microsoft Teams Phone, RingCentral or Twilio, and calendars such as Microsoft 365, Google Calendar or practice management systems with an API. We confirm fit on the scope call.
How long does it take?
Six weeks from kickoff. In our experience, porting or routing the phone number and approving call scripts drive the schedule.
